Mary McLeod Bethune's Home

Built in 1914 and located on the college campus, the home of Bethune-Cookman University founder Mary McLeod Bethune and its grounds, which Bethune called "The Retreat," also serve as the final resting place for the civil rights leader, administrator, educator, adviser to presidents and consultant to the United Nations who passed away in 1955. The National Park Service declared the home a National Historic Landmark in 1975.
