Boys' Five Star Conference

  • On the day of an 18-hole match, Spruce Creek High golf coach Mark Grose makes his first "how's-it-going" calculation as his players make their way to the sixth tee. Then there's the built-in status report that comes after all players have made the nine-hole turn. Monday at New Smyrna Beach Country Club, site of the Five Star Conference boys championship, neither update was entirely comforting for Grose, whose Creek team has been very dominant all season.

Girls' Five Star Conference

LPGA Qualifying School

  • After nearly two days of waiting out rain and unplayable conditions from a nearly three-inch soaking Friday and Saturday, the LPGA qualifying tournament was back in business Sunday. Not only was the third round completed, but the fourth round also was finished just before the sun went down. That allowed the cut for today's final round on the Champions course to be made at 9-over par.
