Father Lopez's Shannon Cranshaw scored the first triple-double of her career Tuesday night, but it was inconsequential considering what happened after the Green Wave's 80-51 girls basketball victory at Flagler Palm Coast High Gymnasium. FPC's players, coaches and parents experienced a scare when junior Nadesh Vitale passed out on the Bulldogs' bench and was gasping for air. She was taken to the hospital with a possible asthma attack.

Marcus Dixon and the Warner Christian Eagles pretty much did as they pleased against Father Lopez in a District 3-2A game Friday night at Lopez's Alumni Stadium. Dixon's six first-half touchdowns, plus the Green Wave's inability to negotiate a first down against the begrudging Eagle defense, pushed Warner (2-0, 2-0) to an easy 59-7 victory.

Two lengthy delays for rain and drying the courts made for a long tennis match between the girls teams from Windermere Prep and Father Lopez on Tuesday. But both teams finished what they started, and the Green Wave came away a 4-3 winner to advance to the Class 1A regional finals Thursday at Embry-Riddle against Winter Park Trinity Prep.

Father Lopez's boys basketball team didn't need any extra incentive Monday night against Mainland. Playing in the finale of the Martin Luther King Jr. Classic at Vince Carter Athletic Complex, the Green Wave were playing for longtime coach Eddie Miller's 300th career victory -- on his 42nd birthday. Beating tradition-rich and Class 6A Mainland was a big enough task, so Miller didn't tell his players about the potential milestone before Class 2A Father Lopez came away with a 57-43 victory.

Taylor and Father Lopez will likely meet again in the district tournament in a couple of weeks. They'll have a hard time matching the intensity and goal scoring from Taylor's 4-3 victory Friday night at Lopez. Jose Rios scored three goals, including the game-winner with 6:25 to play, and teammate Billy Galarza had three assists to lead the Wildcats to a District 6-2A win that secured the No. 1 seed for the district tournament. Ricardo Vargas had the first score for Taylor (10-2-1, 4-0), which capitalized on four set pieces for all of its scoring.
